Getting started with Rack.
Step-by-step walkthroughs for Rack on iPhone, the web app, and your Garmin watch, plus connecting ChatGPT to build routines for you.
Get Started with Rack on iPhone
Start here. Set up your preferences, pair your Garmin, and log your first workout, with the connected-vs-offline modes made clear. Links out to routines, programs, importing, and the AI connector.
Create Your First Routine in Rack
Two ways to build a reusable workout template: the one-tap "Add to Routines" shortcut on iPhone, or the full builder on the web. Your routine then syncs to your phone and Garmin watch.
Build Your First Program in Rack
Turn your routines into a multi-week plan on iPhone. In the Routines tab, name your program, set the cycle and duration, schedule a routine on each training day, and save it as your active program.
Tune Your App to Your Preferences
A tour of the settings worth knowing: weight unit (kg or lbs), appearance, progression rules and training maxes, plus the toggles for Training Intelligence, Apple Health, and Garmin.
Pair Your Garmin
The two-part setup to get Rack on your wrist: install the Rack app from the Connect IQ Store, then connect the watch in Settings. Plus optional Garmin Connect auto-upload.
Import From Other Apps
Bring your history from Hevy, Strong, or Fitbod so your PRs and past sessions come with you. Export from the other app, then import on iPhone or on the web, and turn those sessions into routines.
How to Use the Rack Web App: Full Walkthrough
Sign in, read your history, view analytics, build routines from scratch, and import from other apps on the big screen at rackstrength.com. Plus which actions live only on the iPhone.
How to Use Rack on Your Garmin Watch
Install via Connect IQ, learn the button mapping, log sets, use rest timers, run supersets, and train fully offline on a Garmin watch. Set routines up on your phone, then confirm every set on your wrist even with no phone nearby.
Connect ChatGPT to Rack (MCP): Enable Write Actions
Add Rack as an MCP connector in ChatGPT so it can create routines and custom exercises for you. Paste the server URL, turn OIDC off, and approve the first write. Requires Rack Pro.
